Scotty, et al,
Just replaced the pasenger low beam headlight HID bulb in my 2007 Lexus ES350, 270K miles, because the old one would randomly quit. The old bulb is a Philips D4s made in Germany, the new bulb is a Sylvania D4S also made in Germany. I can hear it standing outside the car in a quiet garage but not inside with doors and windows closed.
Do you think something is wrong with it or will the noise go away after a break in period? It is otherwise working fine.

Sylvania is garbage in my experience. Stick with Philips. The whine could mean your ballast is failing though. Try swapping them.
