I am driving a 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5L with 160k on it. The previous owner (only owner) put 151k in 7 years before I bought the car back (at that rate I assume most of those miles are highway driving). However, it burns about 1 qt every 1000 miles. I changed out the PCV valve, cleaned the throttle plate, made sure there was no leak whatsoever. So it boils down to a worn and stuck piston ring, I think. Do you think there is hope using ATS 505 CRO, Scotty?
Subaru went through a period where some of their engines suffered oil burning due to defective piston rings. Obviously if that's the cause the ATS product won't help, but it's probably worth trying.
The 2013-2014 Outback is among the models reported to be affected. There was a class action lawsuit and settlement due to the problem.
Try it & check if it works out for you.
I tried and it didn't work, still burns the same amount of oil... oh, well, nothing I can do about it besides topping the oil up every 1000 miles. It didn't hurt to try, though.
That’s a pity. Thanks for letting us know about it, though.
