Hello all! I was wondering if you could help me with this right quick. The car is from a private seller. Here are the specs:
- 2006 Acura TL 4
- 170k miles
- 3.2L V6 engine (J32A3)
- Auto tranny
- Clean title
- Minor cosmetic wear inside and out
- Asking $4k
- I'm wondering moreso than anything how much life is still left if the owners have taken good care of it and I continue to. I will consider this car if I can still get a good 50k miles on it. Thanks!

Bring it to a mechanic and make them check the automatic transmission because it is a V6 Acura odds are it might have been taken care of very well OR (more likely) been burned the hell out of. You pay 4 grand, if the transmission goes in 6 months, that another 5 grand. So you dont deal with that, bring it to a mechanic and check the transmission. I would pay less like 3000-3500.. If its done 170 I think if its in good shape now it could easily go a quarter of a million miles.
Price is not bad but high mileage, hard to find with lower mileage.
Motor will go more than 200k miles no problem, transmission may not.

Yeah v6 honda and 15 year old automatic transmission dont go together well
Most cars when they get close to 200k can be a gamble, depends on history though, if history is mystery I would look for lower mileage Toyota, civic stick, etc
Those are very well made cars but that's a lot of mileage you would want a mechanic like me to check it out very closely with his dealer scan tool.
