On my 95 Olds, 3.8 V-6. the thermostat assembly has a small bolt sticking out of the top. Is this a bleeder to "Burp" the air out when you change the coolant? If you loosen it, coolant comes out and if that's what it's for, why doesn't everyone have one?
What oldsmobile do you have and what is the mileage?

Yes, it's the burp screw.

You got it. Air bleeder. It used to be the highest point, but cooling systems have evolved.
