I have a 2008 Chevy Impala with a 5.3L V8 engine and an automatic transmission, that has 185,000miles on it. Recently I got a taping sound from the motor and was told that it was likely a lifter issue. Are there additives like maybe MMO that would work on fixing the issue

it's probably an AFM engine, am I right?
It's a well known design issue. Unfortunately it's too late to do anything. You've got a little while before it grenades. Run 'er in to the ground.
