Hey Scotty
I purchased a 2005 Suzuki Jimny Sierra 1.3L MT 4X4 with 22000km (13700 miles) from Japan it will be arriving in the west coast of Canada in April this year. My plan is to drive it 1000km (620 miles) from the coast to my home in Alberta. I will put a new battery, fresh gas and injection cleaner for the long highway drive. When I get home the plan is to change out all fluid oil, coolant, brake, trans, ect. What else do you recommend doing to the vehicle before and after the trip?
Cheers!
Welcome new member,
First, take a set of tools and a shop manual (paper if possible, I suspect there may be some mountain passes between the port and your house where you might not have access to an on-line manual. Beyond that, it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it. I suspect you have been doing your research already.
But if you haven't thought about it, realize that most parts will be the same on JDM and North American spec cars, but not everything (well, except in that specific case, I don't think there is a North American version). You will need to know where to get info on part numbers and confirm compatibility. If, say, an old drive belt starts to go, what will they have at NAPA in Revelstoke that will work to get you home?
Have fun!
