Generally, the liberty Jeep is not worth buying. 

We need more info to give you a good answer. Liberty's arent the best overall, however my roommate in college had one, and it still got A to B with no major issues, it was from NYC & had 110k miles on it when he bought it. He still drives it to work everyday too. Have a mechanic look thru with a scanner. Its a 20 year old car, if its in decent shape dont pay much. 

P.S. Look up the difference between surface rust & rot

Since 1987 when Chrysler took over Jeep, the brand has been circling the drain.  I would not buy anything made by Jeep after about 1984.
