Hi Scotty! I'm a super fan. I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 6 cyl with 148k miles. When it's cooler outside and sometimes on a cold start up I get ticking from the lifters. Do you recommend changing out the rods and rockers or shall I sell it?

I believe a 2005 model still had the 4.0 inline six. Has the oil been changed regularly? Any sludge under the valve cover? How long does the valve tap last?
It sounds like your hydraulic lifters are worn or they are partly clogged due to poor maintenance. Those engines can run practically forever with a light valve tap though. If you like having a Jeep I'd keep one with the 4.0 over buying one of the newer V6 models any day of the week.
