Jiffy Lube Transmission Fluid Debacle

Scotty, had my ‘09 Mazda 6 to Jiffy Lube for oil change and transmission fluid drain and fill. When I picked up my car there was a waiver on my dash stating “under no circumstances does Jiffy Lube recommend performing transmission fluid service on this vehicle”. Because I watch your utube channel I know the risks of changing fluid on a car with 129k miles but no one at Jiffy Lube ever discussed this with me and worse yet they committed fraud by signing my name to the waiver. My guess is I was never supposed to see that document and it was only for them to file away to cover their own assess.

I would never go to those quick lube joints. The employees there rarely if ever have adequate training and I've seen some real horror stories come out of those places, even things like an "oil change" where they drained the transmission and proceeded to dump 4 or 5 quarts of additional oil into the engine.

NEVER take your vehicles to one of these places.  Many years ago when I was young and had more money, I took my truck to Jiffy Lube to change out the transmission, transfer case and differential oils.  Big Mistake.  Got it home and noticed a veritable lake of oil on the floor.  When I took off the filler plug on the trans, 2 quarts of oil came out that they overfilled it with.  Ten hours later, I had the trans off and had to replace the blown out seals.  Needless to say, I never made that mistake again.

They train people off the street to do critical maintanence. I would NEVER use these places. If you cant do it, take it to at least a dealer if you do not know any independents that have a good reputation. You may pay more but it should be done right by qualified people.

Jiffy Lube is more like IFFY Lube. Their work is iffy.
