Would any trust an oem steering rack from the junkyard or would you buy a new one?
All depends on the car in question for the rack and pinion. If it is an electronic rack or an electronic steering assist built onto it I would avoid a junkyard one unless they offer a warranty on the part. Most junk yards you can pay a little extra and get a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty
Its on a 07 accord v6 and all they are charging is 70.00 for it not to sure if its had an warranty
First question, is it hydraulic power steering or electric? If electric, I'd go ahead.
If hydraulic, well it's always a gamble with junkyard parts, BUT ... I'd do it if I was installing it myself, and if the junkyard would let me return it and get another one if it leaked.
If you''re paying somebody else to install it, you might have to pay twice, which would probably wipe out any savings over OEM.
