Hello, I'm looking to buy a first car and I was just wondering if anyone knows much about the k20z4 engine and its reliability? I've been looking online elsewhere and there are some places saying they have a bit of a timing chain issue, as well as heavy use of oil (being burnt), some sites and blogs say the oil burning is fine and fixable through some maintenance, others say its a sign the engine is a lemon. Just looking for someones opinion on the k20z4 and its reliability.

P.S.

The type r i have found is at 200,000 kms, also just wondering how long a typical k20z4 engine lasts before it becomes too much work to fix.

Well they never sold that model here in the United States they only have newer ones. But Honda makes pretty good engines. The type r ones sold here in the states don't have any problems. But as I said they never sold that particular Civic r in the state so I can't say from experience
