How do you program a new GM key fob for a 2001 Chevy Cavalier?

You have to have some type of scan tool that has that service function built in usually. I’ve tried the “procedures”  online and they don’t work. The Autel AP200 has that functionality. It would be cheaper for a locksmith to do it for you though. Most only charge 30-40 bucks for a basic keyfob. Need to make sure your car has keyless entry though being 20 years old.

Thanks Thumpy!

What I was able to find on the Cavalier fob is that apparently GM didn't include self-programming capabilities for the Cavalier. So the best option (least expensive) will be to go to a locksmith to program it for you. Because Chevy dealer will more expensive.

Thanks toyotagrl!
