I would love an answer from Scotty specifically on this one….. this seems like something he has done before…..
I live in minnesota, I have a 2010 GMC Yukon XL, SLT, 5.3L engine, close to 200,000 miles, and since the body and frame are in good shape: if My engine dies, would a replacement 6.0L engine be just as easy to install, and would it fit instead of a replacement 5.3L ?
Will it fit? Yes. Will it be a plug and play job? No.
The software modules in the vehicle will need to be replaced in order to make the new motor work. For the amount of work involved and the cost, you would be better served to stick with the 5.3L. The 6.0L isn't worth the effort and electrical hassles.
would a replacement 6.0L engine be just as easy to install
No. Easy is not a word I would use to describe it.
Expensive ... yes
complicated ... yes
time consuming ... yes
turnkey/trouble free .. no
easy? ... big no.
But let us know if you find anybody who does this.
this seems like something he has done before…..
maybe a long time ago before computers. I sure haven't seen any videos about it.
