These were probably two of the best SUV's on the market. And they were really SUV's that can go offroad, not just larger road vehicle. And they both seem relatively resilient. Some are even becoming collector items.
If one were in the market for a used one to use for road trips, dirt roads, and hiking trips, assuming the same price and same relative condition for a 20+ year old SUV, which would be the better of the two?
Definitely the LC
What is it about the LC better than the 4Runner? TBH, I really like the look of the 90's LC's. But that is just aesthetics.
the clearance, the gearing, the short wheelbase, the ease of modification.
But I'm talking extreme offroading. The 4Runner is enough for most people.
Good to know. I’ll have to research what the gearing means. Thanks!
if you're serious about getting one, then I'd suggest talking to people in a LC forum, or your local 4x4 club. It won't be cheap.
Thank you for the suggestion.
A LC costs more than double the 4R, so that should give you an indication too.
Ahhh! I thought LC’s were just a little more luxurious, not necessarily more rugged and resilient. But maybe they are!
Definitely the Land Cruiser.
Another vote for Land Cruiser! Nice.
My vote goes for the T4R. But I’m biased since I’ve owned one for 23 years.
How many miles do you have on it?! Which generation do you have? What were the biggest maintenance and repairs, if any?
I have a third generation 98 T4R Ltd 4WD, 184,xxx miles. The biggest maintenance issue was replacing a leaking radiator. But it didn’t start leaking until after 22 years of use.
Amazing.
Both are awesome, I love the 4runners and Land Cruisers. However, i would probably go for the Land Cruiser.
