I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix gtp with an auto transmission. It has 125,000 miles on it. The heater core leaks a little but the heater still works. Can I ignore the leak for a while or will that hurt something else. I do have a floor mat that is waterproof on passenger side of car.

It won't hurt anything else as long as you keep replenishing your coolant so that your car doesn't overheat. In warmer weather, you can bypass the core. Don't take any dogs in the car with you as long as it is leaking as they lick up the antifreeze, it is toxic.
