hi i live in new York state so pretty soon winter will be here but i got a question i have led bulbs in my headlights that i put in spring of this year , but someone told me the other day there not good for snow and ice because they don t get hot enough to melt the snow or ice on headlight housing could i put like a wax or polish on the headlight housing for instance nu finish polish so the snow or ice will slide of or some type of silicone spray iam just worried i don't want to ruin the uv protectant on the headlight housing ok thanks

I always wax my headlight/taillight lenses with the rest of the car.  Won't hurt a thing. Especially modern polymer and ceramic waxes.

Many new cars come with LED headlights and taillights.  They don't seem to have any issues.

They still get pretty hot, and many of them have to come with a small fan to help cool them.

One big advantage I noticed when driving in Blizzard weather in upstate new york, a good set of LEDs will give you great visibility on those roads with pathetic excuses for road stripes, and no reflectors. I put a nice set on my GX470 and absolutely love them. With projector headlights, I am also not blinding oncoming traffic, those high beams sure are nice though when needed!
