I recently moved back to Colorado after many years in Florida. Need a reliable 4WD SUV for this time of year.
I'm looking at a 2-owner, well-kept 2005 4Runner Limited (V8) with 163k miles for about $6k and a 1-owner, well-kept 2005 Lexus GX470 with 181k for about $8k. I like the way the Lexus drives more than the 4Runner, but what is the better option? I'd like to keep the vehicle for at least a handful of Winters. Both are private sales.

Both are excellent trucks. As you said, the Lexus rides smoother. If I want to choose between these, I would go for the Lexus.

Get the 4RUNNER most definitely but have a mechanic like Scotty check it out THOROUGHLY before purchase and maybe offer less and see what they will take.
