Lexus GX470 vs Toyota Sequoia

Which large SUV has the most comfortable ride for an 8 to 10 hr trips? I am going to be transporting my elderly parents 4 or 5 times a year on this journey and want them and I as comfortable as possible. I am looking at these two models for the dual purpose of also hauling a pontoon when needed. Also what year(s) would you advise?

Thanks Scotty

The GX is more comparable to the Land Cruiser. They are built in the same platform, and as of late the Land Cruiser is sold as more luxury rather than SUV.

The Sequoia is built on the Tundra truck platform.

I don’t have direct experience with either. But my guess is the GX and Land Cruiser would have more comfort features than the Sequoia. With that said the Sequoia is a damn big vehicle, so it is probably more spacious than the other two.

To sum it up: Sequoia is huge based on a truck platform
The GX would be more luxurious
They are both reliable, but of course after 20 years or so Lexuses are more expensive to maintain.

The Lexus is going to win the war of comfort and long hauls as that is essentially what it is designed to do best.

The Sequoia, as already noted, is much more truck based and will have a tougher ride, though it still isn't going to be what I would call rough or bumpy. Just not buttery smooth like the Lexus.

As for towing a pontoon, you could really do that with either. I would take the Lexus if it were me but I do not have any issues with the Sequoia either.
