Following your advice, I checked out what is available here (I live in france) and came upon this gem (?).
What should I look out for as this Lexus has only 17568 kms on it since 17 years ?
Sounds like a case of sitting in a garage all this time. Which might mean corrosion or other problems with the hoses and joints and gaskets ???
What should I look out for ? How should I test it ?

Ok, the thing is that it is very low miles for an 18 year old car. It could have been neglected. Also, the V8 engines aren't as reliable long term as the V6 ones. Also, if you are up north, it could have issues on the frame etc.
Have a trusted local independent mechanic check it out. Make sure everything is fine with it, and only then make an offer. It might not even me the real mileage. You need to be wary and not trust anyone. You could get a 2013 2014 Lexus for that price with plenty of life in it I would get a much newer ES than get a 18 year old LS.
