AVOID THE 2001 CIVIC. We knew Honda's has weak automatic transmissions, but many sources say the 2001 Civic is one of the worst.

I would agree. My family used to have a 2001 Civic with an automatic and the transmission went out at 45,000 miles. Keep in mind we bought the car brand new and did NOT beat on it at all. Luckily, Honda was nice enough to put in a new transmission, free of cost, after seeing the car's service records.
