I want something reliable, safe, and that has ample passenger room. I was initially considering the GX but then saw a few of the LX models which remind me of the Land Cruiser -given Lexus and Toyota are the same it makes sense they would remind me of the Land Cruiser a SUV I’ve always liked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah LX for sure. As mentioned, it is basically a land cruiser from Lexus.
The GX470 at least, is the Land cruiser 120 Prado turned into a lexus. I heard something about the GX460 not being based on the 120, but maybe the 150?
I would not suggest a GX unless you only need seating for 4, maybe 5 adults. I can only fit children in the rear seats, and not overly comfortable. The LX has much more room in the 3rd row.
