you mentioned in recent posts about avoiding older hybrid vehicles due to battery replacement costs. What about buying a new one rx450h vs a reg gasoline version rx350.  Do the savings from fuel consumption outweigh the additional purchase costs and any maintenance costs down the road?  I expect that more people will switch to EV and hybrids so resale of hybrid will be better.

If buying brand new, then you shouldn’t run into any major problems buying a hybrid, provided you expect to get rid of the car after 10-15 yrs with commensurate mileage.

If you want your vehicle to last >20 yrs without having the hassle of a $$$ hybrid battery replacement, I’d pick the regular petrol RX350.

Nobody knows what the future holds about resale values of used hybrids. Are you willing to take the gamble?

Thanks. Just found out that the hybrid requires premium fuel? So much for savings!
