I am looking at buying a low mileage SC430. Is there anything I should look out for? Also, is a newer model year better than an older model year?

It depends on the model year and mileage and how well it was taken care of. Basically, the newer the better but they are expensive to repair when they age.

As @yaser said, the newer the better. Those cars carry hefty repair costs so make sure you are prepared for that.
