2006 6cyl trailblazer 165,000.  Headlights and most other lights fliker most of the time. Had this problem since I purchased it 8 years ago. Two new batteries no difference. Charging system checks ok

Sounds like a ground problem with the alternator or alternator wiring. Try this.

The lights flicker including the dome light. The original alternator and a replacement alternator 15-200-110 operate the same way. The voltage output of the alternator is spiking.
Average Reported Mileage: 135710
Tests/Procedures: 1. Confirm the Red wire at the alternator for the turn on signal is stable.

2. Verify the ground for the alternator case, body and chassis are adequate.

3. Locate terminal D of the alternator connector, (The Red wire is terminal B and the Gray wire is terminal C ).

4. Remove the plug from the connector (if equipped) and route a new wire from terminal D to the output stud of the alternator.

sounds like a fraying wire or loose connector on the headlight harness

@mountainmanjoe

Thanks for the Non-Help

I have had this problem a couple times. About every two years the solid state headlight relay shorts out. Part number 15016745. Check your owners manual for location of relay in the fuse box under the hood drivers side. After replacement it works.... until it burns out again. Must be another Chevy design flaw. Take note there is an identical relay right next to it for the engine fan. Good luck
