[Solved] Limited slip(or not) oil for gearbox/differential

You have all my respect!

I would have a question: I want to change my tranny and rear differential oil in my 2003 Rav4 2.0 Gasoline 4WD, 160.000km and i heard very good things about this MOTUL GEAR 300 and MOTUL GEAR 300 LS (LS stands for Limited Slip). I dont know if i need the Limited Slip type or not, can you please help {black}:pray:

correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rav4 limited slip is simply an electronic function.
The LS additive is only for SOME MECHANICAL limited slip differentials. It should only be used if the manufacturer recommends it.


Yes, that's correct. Since he's not sure in this case, the last sentence in the second paragraph say's he should ask the Toyota dealer for verification.
Some models are also equipped with a limited–slip rear differential. If one rear wheel begins to spin, the limited–slip rear differential is designed to aid traction by automatically transmitting driving force to the other rear wheel. If you are not sure whether your vehicle is equipped with one, you can ask your Toyota dealer
