Noticed the power steering pump making noise on very cold morning starts in Auburn, Maine. I just moved up here for a few months for work.

What’s a trustworthy shop in my area to go to?

What brand or type of power steering pump do you recommend?

What should the labor costs be approximately?

Check the fluid level and condition. Changing the fluid might be the only thing that needs to be done.

I just changed the fluid in mine. Find a shop that does the BG Service.  It pulls all the crap out of the pump and steering rack. Try that first. I like the BG products and services on fluid changes. Then keep it changed. People neglect their fluids like steering but change engine oil. That's a mistake.

Changing the fluid won’t fix the squeak, it will only prevent damage. If you have a leak the damage is done already. Changing it would be a complete waste of money.

Fill it up, if it gets low again you have a leak. No need for guess work.
