Electrical problems in 20-year-old Lincoln

Lincoln town car 2006 signature - I have had this car for 7 years now. Bought it for $1,250, 141000 miles now I got it at 132000 miles. I originally had it in New Orleans where I was stationed, then I moved to Bahrain where I had the car for 2 years and the heat I feel caused sooooo many issues. Melted my chrome grill, now it’s covered in bubbles. Power steering ended up needing to be replaced. Electrical needed to be replaced, blinker switch, driver door window panel switches all had to be replaced. Cruise control does not engage, battery, starter and alternator replaced. Now I finally got my car back and I’m stationed in North Carolina. Should I risk taking it to a shop for a full checkup or just ride it out until the next issue? If I ride it out what could I check on my own other than the fluids that I might should look into?

that, and being a high mileage luxury car full of features and electronics. It's going to be a money pit.

It can't hurt. Next time you take it for an oil change ask the mechanic to give it a once over. It's usually better to catch problems early on.

Read the maintenance topic in our FAQ on the front page. It covers most of what you can check yourself.
