When I retire in 2027, my wife and I (in our 70's) are planning to travel the United States over a two-year period.
I purchased a well-maintained 2011 Ford Expedition with 150,000 miles as my vehicle of choice for the room and safety, but learned the hard way about the 3Valve motor and got hoodwinked, now it sits as it needs a new motor.
Instead of chasing good money after bad, I want to start over and I would appreciate help with vehicle suggestions for our journey, where reliability, plenty of room and safety are paramount.
Thank you and I welcome your input.

Reliability = Toyota
Used Toyotas cost more for a reason. (Unfortunately you found that out the hard way with your Expedition.)
A 4Runner might be the ticket for you if need a large, roomy vehicle.
