Hey folks,
I was getting under 250kms on a full tank in my 2000 Town Car. Had 3 misfires and a leaky fuel filter. So i replaced plugs, coil packs and the fuel filter and I still am only getting around 300kms to a full tank. The car runs amazingly. There are no more leaks and engine prrrs smoothely. My crown vic gets 650kms of usage in town and 800kms of fuel on the highway. I want my town cars fuel mileage back. Anyone got any ideas????
Well you might have the fuel injectors pressure cleaned and all the sensors like the map sensor tested and all the filters changed.but before you go too far see what kind of gas mileage you get highway only and if you get in the twenties it's just old age for the rest of the lower mileage you can only truly test the gas mileage on the highway going 60 or so and that's miles per hour
Add that I had my fuel injectors cleaned by my personal good mechanic like you Scotty and I have done the test for a 500 km round trip on the highway doing 100 km per hour the entire time so my mechanic and I are stumped I will check out a few more things
I will however check tha map sensor and clean it and change my air filter and i will do a wet and dry compression tests to see whats up as well! Thanks for the reply Scotty! All your knowledge you share saved me a fortion by doing all my own work. I even swapped the rear air suspension for coil springs myself.
