[Solved] Lincoln Town Car Transmission Fluid

Hello! I have a 1999 Lincoln Town Car Cartier with about 93,000 miles on the odometer and an automatic transmission. The fluid in the tranny has never been changed, as far as I know. Should I change it or does it have too many miles on it already? The car was my Grandfather's and has always been babied. The transmission still shifts very smoothly. Thanks for any help you can give me. P.S. The car sat for several years without hardly going anywhere after my Grandfather’s passing, but has been in regular use again for the last couple years. Sorry for the long post lol 😂.

The mileage is still low enough that it could be changed but don't have it flushed just changed out and make sure you clear about that when you take it in since it's an older car. Long post LOL not even. You haven't even seen a long post till you've been on here as long as I have...

Change it. Drop the pan, drain the fluid, remove and flush the throttle body, drain the torque converter, clean everything, then refill with the right fluid (don't go to WalMart and get the cheapest crap you can find), reassemble using all-new seals and gaskets, pay attentions to torque numbers and sequences (very important!).

In 1.5-2 hours, it should be good to go for about another 100k.

And while you have it up on a lift, check everything else!

By the way, don't try it yourself: Have a competent, professional transmission person do it.
