Hey Scotty I have a 2001 Mazda protege Protegé MP3 second owner it's been a great car, for the past six months I've been having a problem whenever I pump gas the car wants to shut down or have rough idle for a few minutes then it's gone, I have no check engine light, I replaced the charcoal canister purge valve and vent valve, still does the same thing. What can it be??

Okay this could be a few things. Do you wait until your car is almost on E to fill up because that alone could cause it...? If not check your Air filter, Spark plugs and both those are clean have the fuel pressure tested. It also could just be the gas your getting. Try another fuel station chain first and see if it clears up.

I did everything, I also never let it go to empty I've been to chevron, shell, texaco and Costco. Throttle body is clean, I recently did a tune up, you fill it with 5-10-20 bucks of gas and does it anyway

Try turning key to on position for a few seconds before starting, fuel pump might be getting old and need a few extra seconds to pressurizer the rails.

I never thought of that, I'll be trying it out and see, thanks

I pumped gas yesterday, no change whatsoever, still no check engine, and it's looking like everytime I pump the symptom gets even worse, now its shutting down, It didn't do that a while ago
