Looking at buying a C6 Corvette

I am looking at getting a 2010 - 2013 Corvette with under 40k miles.  GS package and manual.  Currently have an 08 Mustang GT premium manual with 45k miles.  My primary car is a 16 Tacoma.  What should I look for?  Am I better off keeping the Mustang or looking at a different Corvette?  There are local Corvette specialists whom I will probably buy from unless I can find a private seller.

Also what scan tool should I get to help with the purchase?  Already have a mechanic to inspect.

Good choice:  bulletproof engine and transmission.   The Grand Sport is the sweet spot of the C6 generation.

What should I look for?

Check the Corvette Forum for all the nuasances of the C6 and what to look for.  Make sure it’s a low owner example and there are service receipts of all work done:  ideally want engine oil changed every 5,000 miles.  You want the previous owner to have taken care of the vehicle like it was their baby.  Corvette owners (including myself) are typically known for that.   Avoid a vehicle that has many previous owners - red flag.

I think C6 Grand Sport with manual is a good choice.   Find a well-taken care of example even if you have to spend more.  It’s worth it!  Nevertheless, since out of warranty set aside up to $10,000 in repair funds.  Corvettes suffer from “Corvette tax” and very expensive to fix (if you have to hire someone).

You want a “full system” scan tool.  Look under FAQ on our forum for recommendations.

Thank you!
