Im looking to buy a honda crv i kind like the 2015 but i saw the video about the problem they got with the oil been diluted so what year would be a good year to buy
Hi! Don't want to pretend that I am a well knower, but I cheked and learned Mr. Scotty's lessons. The oil dillution probs are only to the newer models, after 2017-18, however only with the 1.5 turbo engines. Your targeted Honda has an 2.4 engine....and the 2015 year was a good one. Good luck!
@PeterPan can you copy and paste your answer into the ‘Your Answer’ box down below? Thank you.
2014 is also a better year. It had the 5 speed automatic instead of the CVT so transmission wise its a better choice. Then again, 2012-2014 also had some engine grinding where the engine would make a noise for 4 5 seconds when you start it up but it doesn't really cause any damage. Go check them out and remember to have a mechanic check it out before you buy any car!
PeterPan is correct: You are asking about MY2015 which is the 4th generation CR-V (2012-2016). The 5th generation (MY2017-present) had the oil dilution issue with the 1.5L turbocharged I4.
For other issues with the CR-V in 2015 (and other years), see below:
That year didn't have oil dilution issues but it was the first year of the CVT transmission so there were some problems with that.
Thanks for all the answers... so basically the 2015 model doesn't have the oil diluted problem but it has some problems with the tranny 🙄 so what about the 2014 then would that be a good year to buy thanks
Hahaha
No car is perfect mate.. Just pick the one with the least of the evils. I say have a look at a few 2015 CR-Vs, shortlist 1-2 and have them thoroughly inspected by a professional Honda mechanic. If they say the engine & tranny are in great condition, go right ahead..
