I'm looking to purchase a used vehicle from a private owner, here in Maryland. I've never had a automatic luxury sport sedan, what do you suggest?
Clarification: Are you asking what to look for (I.e. during inspection and test drive) before you buy from the seller? If so, which year, make, and model?

Lexus and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Acura are the ones Scotty recommends the most. Just do your research and stay away from models with inherent problems.
