94 pontiac firebird 3.4 litre 5 sp manual. Recently had to remove power steering pulley for water pump replacement. I used the correct puller/installer for removal and insallation of the ps pulley. This should be a tight press fit, and was tight coming off, but after re-install, my pulley comes right off. Do I need to replace the pump, pulley, both, or is there a way to keep the pulley tight. Can I install a bolt and washer on front of pulley shaft?
Why, exactly is the pulley loose? Is it not installed correctly, is it not torqued to specification? Find the reason before just replacing things and hoping for a good outcome.
pulley reinstalled correctly with tool until pulley and shaft were flush. There is just not a tight enough fit between pulley and smooth shaft. No key, no taper. trying to add a bolt and washer to end of shaft.

double check that you have the correct pulley part number.
It's also possible the pump was replaced at some point, so the shaft is a different size.
Look at the old pulley ... any numbers stamped on it?
Put a couple of washers on it if need be. Or as @mmj said, get the correct parts, pump, pulley or both.
