Clicking noise while trying to crank

Hi Scotty:  My 2003 Chevy  Suburban 5.3 L with 178.5k on it had a dead battery recently and after charging it back up everytime I start it up I get a bunch of clicking noise and finally it turns over and starts.  Is it a bad starter or alternator or both?  Is it still the battery even though it shows full charge?  Thank you!

Start with load testing the battery and alternator.

Okay thank you.

I would check the terminal connections too, should be clean and corrosion free and tight. Also check the wire to the starter to make sure it too has clean connections and they are tight. If the battery is old (over 6 years) it would not hurt to try a new battery, it may not hold the required cranking amps the battery needs to crank the motor.

Thank you!
