Hello,
I am a true Volvo love and have several models. I came across a lovely 1999 Volvo C70 for $1000 that is drivable and interior and paint still looks great, but it has a blown head gasket. What are your thoughts on using a liquid sealer like Barr's or Blue Devil for for the sake of keeping it for short in town traveling? Thanks for all the entertaining help.
If you truly love Volvo you'd get the head gasket replaced. These sealers can work but are most of the time temporary solutions. Also a pain to scrape out once you do decide to do the head gasket.
Exactly, it is just a bandaid at best.
A lot of times those products will also "seal" your heater core or radiator. As the others have indicated, commit to replacing the head gasket (which may even involve a warped cylinder head) or pass it by.
