2015 Chevy Traverse, Automatic 2 wheel drive, 170k miles
Good day Mr. Kilmer, may I call you by your first name? What a pleasure to find a way to contact you and to meet you. I watch a ton of your videos. My name is Paul Cottier, email is [personal contact information redacted].
I am reaching out to you today because I am at the ends whit of my A.C. I have not been able to get my A.C to run to the full compacity for a fee year's now and have done a lot of work to it. Maybe you can help me, I can list all the issues and everything I have changed.
Front A.C
Blows cold when accelerating but still not supper freezing, when the ambient temperature rises it Blows cold but cannot keep up, blows a little bit harder and cooler on the passenger side.
Blows week maybe only to speed 2.
Heat works fine but still Blows week
I have changed the Condenser, expansion valve, evacuated, vacuumed and recharged freon. I changed out the climate control module as is was bad. I have changed the blower motor as the old one was making noise. I checked the blower control module, it is fine and I changed the cabin filter.
Rear A.C
Blows mildly cold no matter the change on the climate control module.
Blows slightly colder on passengers side
Heat works good
I have changed the expansion valve, blower control module, evaporator core and heater core and the climate control module as it was also bad.
I have not changed the compressor, to be transparent, I really have not tested it nor have I looked at the belt, I don't feel it is the issue. I have not changed the front evaporator core or heater core and nothing else of that matter.
What I do know is that the Chevy Traverse is common for A.C issues, had I seen that when researching before I bought the car I would not have. I have never brought my cars to mechanic shops and have always done all my work all my life but this one has me stumped. Anything you can do to help me?
- GOD bless and I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Please do not post personal contact information. It is a bad idea in any public forum. No one from here will email you, all contact is through the forum. Thank you.
Beat me to it, haha.
Sorry, I am new at the forum thing. Is there away to remove the post and start over? Otherwise, I would still love anyone's opinion and support o. The low air flow and only cold when accelerating
No need to start over, we removed your contact information.
Had this happened to my 05 matrix. Could not figure it out myself and had to bring it to the
Technician. They said it was the condenser in the front of the car and that it was somehow plugged up
But I just replaced my Condenser, so that can not be the issue. I brought my car to a technician and they said it was my climate control module, I replaced that and still the same result. Also they neglected to tell me my rear climate contole module was bad, I figured that one out on my own. If you read my post, I have replaced a lot of parts so now I'm at a loss
temperature and air velocity are separate, isolated systems. I'm not sure which you have a problem with, or both.
You may want to check the GM technical bulletins for your model, in case there are flaws/revisions. HVAC problems are commonplace.
temperature issues will be either low refrigerant /leaks, or a temperature blend door problem.
Air strength is either a failing control module or motor.
All electrical schematics and diagnostic instructions are on https://charm.li/ (2013 is close enough) if you want to do it yourself. Otherwise find a reliable mechanic.
Providing you actually filled the car with the proper refrigerant, to specification provided on the radiator core support, and you didn't get any air into the system by accident, the only thing it could be at this point is the compressor, I think. Modern compressors are variable compressors. Given GM's reputation for subpar parts quality, that very well could be the issue.
It would make sense to me, engines spend very little time at the higher end of the RPM range, so it could be less "worn out" in that range.
