Hey scotty I have a 2004 suzuki 800cc gasoline car in india just has 15,000miles.
The cars runs fine for the first 5-6 miles, it starts to jerk, and cuts the acceleration after 5-6 miles of driving, mechanic says fuel supply is being reduced after driving for some time
no overheating, changed oil, changed fuel filter. Please helpLow fuel supply
What model?
Its called suzuki 800 2004, a little car, very popular in india, the vehicle runs fine for 15-20 minutes then starts to jerk like crazy as if starving for fuel
Get a new fuel pump. Check for proper fuel pressure.
Will consider, but any idea why does it only starts to jerk only after driving it for a while?
Your fuel pump is weak. As @Doc mentioned, it can not provide enough pressure after a while.
The supply of fuel is not keeping up with the demands of the engine.
Looking online, I found that on the older variants of the 0.8L Suzuki F engine - the injectors could get clogged from poor quality gas.
Unfortunately, the newer variant of that engine developed for India to meet very high emissions standards - so it’s not available in the rest of the world and different from the F8B.
So that might be an issue, it may not be - for me there’s no real way to tell…
but that’s a last resort option.
First I recommend trying the simple stuff and visiting local mechanics to get their opinion on the situation.
Simple things to try and troubleshoot:
If possible replace the fuel filter, it should be relatively inexpensive.
If that won’t solve the issue / not practical to do, try get a reading of the fuel rail pressure (if it begins to drop then it’s probably the fuel pump)
Unfortunately since it’s an engine built for and common in the Indian market - your local mechanics probably know more about diagnosing it than I do.
