Low mile 2002 Camry (original owner) what to watch for?

Scotty, we've got a 2002 Camry 4-cylinder/automatic that we've owned from new. It has less than 100K miles (not even broken in yet!) and our youngest daughter has been using it for college. We originally bought it as a commuter for my wife and then she started working from home within 3-4 years of buying it.

Other than regular upkeep (oil change/filter, air filter, brakes, etc.) is there anything that I should either be keeping an eye out for or even proactively addressing at this stage?

Also change the timing belt if it has not been done yet.

Timing chain, not a belt on the 4 banger 🙂

SO you don’t need to worry about it

The only thing I can think of is all the rubber on the car. Make sure it isn't visibly cracking or leaking fluid and you should be fine. Also check for rust in unusual places (the top of the strut towers or the spare tire well). If you really feel concerned take it to a proper mechanic.

If an engine is not broken in, you should do that slowly so it won't have any problems. This means no heavy foot at the beginning.
