Hello,
I have a 2016 Camry LE automatic tranny with 54K miles on the dash. It seems I can't shift into any other gear but park or reverse. .
What I've tried:
Checked that brake lights activate and they do.
Checked the fuse for the shift lock mechanism. It was fine but I replaced it anyway.
Checked the "STOP" fuse. It was fine as well.
Checked the computer for codes and nothing came up. I checked it thinking if the brake switch was sending no signals to the ECU or just (1) instead of (2) then it would trip a code.
Any ideas of what to check next? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As far as my skill level, able to do pretty much most things. If I don't feel comfortable with a VERY big job I'll take it to a shop. Thanks!
Here's an additional clue: Shift lock bypass is not working. I tried both with the car running and with the power just on.
Take the top off of the console and see if the shift cable bushing slipped off.
