Hello so I've been in a nutshell. Been trying to find lower control arms for my 1999 chevrolet suburban k1500 5.7L Gas 4WD. I have torsion bar suspension. whenever i look up lower control arms for my truck. All the information is in and it just takes me to upper control arms that i dont need. Are there no control arm replacement for my 99 burban? Or im not looking it up right like might be called something different or something. So i would Google control arms for my truck. Would show me this moog brand that looks like it would fit. Has torsion bar sopt .But i put my vehicle information in then it doesn't fit and goes to upper control arms. I heard my body style changed mid year if that's true. And i wonder if that's why its confusing. Like i have the 2000 suspension setup rather than the 1999. Id rather get a new control arm than have to deal with the bushing and ball joint. My ball joints are not great. Shop told me I'll need lower ball joints soon. But i dont know. But all i know as now. So any help or advice would be appreciated.
parts for older vehicles just run out eventually. Especially parts that rust out first, like lower control arms.
Been trying to find lower control arms
why? Is it just worn out balljoints, or the whole arm is bad?
Shop told me I'll need lower ball joints soon
ask the shop to find parts. If they can't then you probably won't
At that point you may have to go hunting in junkyards or get rid of the vehicle.
If your current arms are fine, then press in some new balljoints. It will cost more.
My control arms aren't real bad just surface rust. They still pretty solid.. just thought about getting new suspension and was gonna try to work on the control arms first. But makes sense. Wasn't sure about it. I probably will contact the shop and see if they could locate it or not. Who knows, might have better resources to parts. But thank you for reaching out. Helped me realize I'm not that crazy for not finding it. Lol Probably just clean up the old and just reuse.
Thanks for the help.
