I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX with V6 engine, automatic transmission and 183K miles. Transmission occasionally slips after I stop and then put in reverse or in drive, but otherwise works fine. My mechanic suggested adding a bottle of Lube Gard Platinum Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant. I have always only used Honda OEM Transmission fluid. What are you thoughts on using a product like this or Lucas Stop Slip for my issue?
Are your sure your fluid level is OK?
Some people have reported success with such additives, but they are temporary bandaids at best and may not work at all. You can give it a try but keep in the back of your mind that the transmission may not last much longer.
