Lx 470 with brake and abs light on

I have a 99 Lx 470 with 306,000 miles on it and have owned it for 13 years. It was a northern car until this year when we moved to Texas. The engine and trans are really good and runs perfect. The problem is the brake light and abs light are on and there is a ringing noise. The brakes are soft but can work. The mechanic says it’s the abs control module and most likely it will need new brake lines. No one down here will work on it because it has some rust on the frame. The trailer hitch is rusted out but the frame doesn’t look that bad to me. They are afraid it will all fall apart. I’m not sure what to do.

Well it probably is ABS control module. They cost a fortune. Plus if your car is all rusting out nobody will touch it. Then you're in a real pickle because they see the lines are rotting away. If the line breaks after they work on the car, they're worried about being sued. That's a problem with northern cars. My sister-in-law brought a Ford pinel from Buffalo to Houston and a couple years later the driver's door actually fell off from rust when she opened it and she drove it a while climbing in the passenger side
