Hi Scotty, got me a 1998 3.4 litre V6 Prado. As I understand it has a Toyota specific M-ODB port. Any idea what dongle or scanner would work on this? Ps, Daily viewer of your youtube - keep up the good work. Thanks.
Any scanner will do, ODB II.....
Really? From what I read on some old cruiser forums wa they were different pins and conversion kits to odb 2 didn't work well? Would be happy if I could get a bluedriver or similar that fit/worked.
If you mean OBD2, then yes, your car should have it - https://www.outilsobdfacile.com/location-plug-connector-obd/Toyota-land-cruiser-10
Thanks for the link. Thinking though it's for an 80 series Lancruiser by the looks of the photos. The Prado is the same 3.4 litre as the Forunner of that era.
All the more reason it should have an OBD2 port as all vehicles built after 1996 were mandated to have it, in the States.
In the states is the key point...my vehicle was built in Japan and never imported to the USA. Were Prados ever sold there?
If you call up your local Toyota dealer with your VIN number, they may be able to tell you exactly what your vehicle is fitted with.
I've tried my N.American OBD scanner on Japanese imports and it didn't work. They must be on a different system.
