What Maintenance should I perform on my 2005 Civic?

Hello Scotty,

My husband inherited a 2005 Honda Civic, it has 82,000 original miles. My husband has done oil changes on it since owning it, but we don't think it's had a full maintenance done on it in 4-5 years. Do you recommend taking it to the dealership for a full overhaul/maintenance since it's close to 90,000 miles?

Thank you,

I'd avoid going to the dealer, they possible will try to rip you off for minute flaws not worth fixing or even repairs you do not need.

I'd recommend to look in the owners manual to see what should be done (timing belts? spark plugs? automatic transmission fluid?... and so on) so you can go to a good mechanic and do what you really need to do.

Or maybe go to a good independent mechanic for an inspection but wouldn't do any serious repairs until another mechanic will agree that that issue indeed does exist.

The '05 civic can probably run for ever, with only 90k miles it's still practically a new car.

Ok, thanks for the advice!
