Why does my car shift harder when put in gear?

Upon first start, shifting from park to reverse and reverse to drive the shifts are easy and there is no delay or clunking.

However, once the car is warmed up, shifting from park to reverse or reverse to drive there will be a noticeable delay in going into the selected drive mode and bit of clunk during each engagement of the selected gear. I had my shop look into this to see if there are any worn engine or transmission mounts but they said it looks ok.  The transmission fluid is clean (changed in the last 30K miles) and full.  Any ideas what is causing this jerkiness?  Once the car is in gear, the gear shifts are fine; no hesitation or jerkiness or odd noises.

Sounds like something is internally worn in the transmission so when cold and the oil is thicker it’s fine but when warm and thinner it is having the issue.. not saying it is or isn’t but just verify the previous fluid used is the proper fluid for the vehicle
