What does it mean if you have a U joint clunk when ripping the clutch off after gas, especially at redline.
It clunks at all rpms with a overly long clutch stroke with dead space. Starts to work better with no space, but when you go to remove a lot, clutch sticks halfway when returning, and cant go into first gear when removed all the dead space completely.
Year, make, model, mileage, which transmission?
R33 skyline GT 93-95 rb25det, RWD 115k km with a new OEM clutch flywheel kit same issue. new master cylinder piston kit, and brand new slave.
Car is nice when hitting the limiter on first gear.
Pilot bearing more than likely, might as well do a full clutch job. Check your U/CV Joints to.
Of course I changed the pilot bearing and pivot ball.
Did not get a new clutch fork and ears, my mechanic said they appeared normal.
Had the drive shaft inspected before, a real shaft shop said there was nothing wrong with my u joints, YOU CANT FEEL ANY THING WRONG BY HAND. Still didnt change them anyways cause its hard to do non servicable u joints correctly. No clutch burning smell no matter what with a stock rb25 clutch no matter how hard you launch. Thats the beauty of true JDM.
Did you clean up the transmission input shaft? It possible it may be burred and catching? Also some clutches it’s possible to put the throwout bearing in wrong position in the forks. Years ago I saw where firestone had actually managed to install the throwout bearing backwards on an 86 camaro. And believe it or not the car actually drove ok, but after a few thousand miles the tranny was toast, it wasn’t disengaging completely, toasted all the synchronizers
My clutch is disengaging completely, but not correctly on a certain setting. It takes off as it should. Redlines first as it should, doesn't have an issue when you hit the limiter, but over revving second and third isn't healthy.
Me and my friend John were thinking it could be a bent fork, U joint, or the Master cylinder body itself still won't work with a new piston kit.
It sounds like maybe the clutch disc itself was installed backwards.
It had this issue with the original 27 year old clutch with 114k km on it. Started with a bad shop overextending the master cylinder. RACE CAR CLUNK
