I have a 2013 Mazda 6. I have 65k miles. I asked my mechanic to change the MT gear oil. He said that Mazda does not recommend it since it's lifetime. I called the dealer and they were happy to schedule me for the service for my left arm and my first born. Any thoughts??
Don't believe any of the "lifetime fluid" stuff - any lubricating fluid eventually wears out and needs to be replaced. Look up in the owner's manual for when Mazda recommends changing manual transmission fluid - it should have a mileage interval in there. I would recommend you go to another mechanic since the dealer is charging you so much. Look up good, reputable Japanese car mechanics in your area. Read a few of the reviews and do some background research on the shops that seem appealing.
Manual transmission gear oil is not an automatic trans oil. Most people dont change the MT oil at all. But ... 🙂 66k miles is a perfect moment for changing the oil. Exactly like AD99 said check in your manual but most people change MT oil between 66-100k miles.
