2006 Toyota Matrix XR AWD. 88,000. Automatic. Runs well and no codes.
This car has a protective sub assembly under the gas tank. Some say this is a heat shield. Others say it's road debris protection for the gas tank and not a heat shield. The mount tabs have rusted just enough to partially disconnect this part from it's mounts around the gas tank. This is a discontinued part.
Happen to know anything about the part? I'm currently driving the car without the part. I don't miss all the noise from it banging after it let go.
